A GLITCH during the implementation of a new parking system at Eyemouth Harbour led to motorists wrongly being issued with penalty tickets, it has emerged.
Eyemouth Harbour Trust (EHT) has been advised of an administrative error that resulted in issuance of a small number of penalty charge notices (PCNs) for parking around the harbour.
During the testing phase of the new Creative Car Park (CCP) system, an incorrect setting was activated, resulting in PCNs being issued in error.
The Trust has given an assurance that this situation was immediately rectified and the PCNs have been cancelled.
Those affected will receive a formal letter of confirmation regarding the cancellation directly from the operator. This note this may arrive a day or two following the PCN and you do not need to take any action.
The go live date remains for the new system is set as August 1. Any PCNs issued in advance of that date in error have been cancelled by the operator.
A spokesperson for Eyemouth Harbour Trust said: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
“Thank you for your understanding and patience as CCP work to resolve this matter.”
CCP has been appointed as a third-party parking management company to manage parking in designated areas within the Eyemouth Harbour parking areas.
This decision comes after careful consideration and collaboration with the Eyemouth Harbour Parking Working Group.
This strategic partnership between EHT and CCP underscores a commitment to providing an improved parking experience for all who use the harbour parking areas, for business or pleasure.
The aim is that this collaboration will streamline operations, alleviate congestion, and contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of harbour parking.
All revenue generated from paid parking is used to maintain the harbour infrastructure.
By paying to park in harbour areas, you are making a valuable contribution to the upkeep of the harbour.
However, there are alternative free public car parks nearby should drivers prefer not to pay to park.
