A GREEN scheme at a Borders village hall has been rubber-stamped.
When members of Scottish Borders Council’s Cheviot Area Partnership met on Wednesday (July 31) they agreed funding of £5,000 to support work on improvements to Oxnam Village Hall near Jedburgh.
The community-owned hall is run by volunteers.
The application is for phase one of a larger improvement project to de-carbonise the hall and involves lowering the ceiling in the main hall and plastering work.
This will reduce the volume to be heated, environmental impact and running costs, helping to make the hall warmer and more comfortable for the community to use.
It is hoped this work will enable phase 2 to follow, which would involve installation of solar panels.
