BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Selkirk woman who admitted charges of child neglect and failing to meet the needs of three dogs required by good practice.

Thirty-two-year-old Shelley Brunton, of Raeburn Meadow, pleaded guilty at the town’s sheriff court to the offences which happened between December 2022 and July 16, 2023.

She admitted failing to provide a clean environment in her home for the children and dogs who were exposed to hazards such as dog urine and faeces.

Brunton will be sentenced on September 2.
