“ENQUIRIES are ongoing” after hay bales were set on fire in the Borders, according to police.
The incident happened at around midday on Sunday (September 1) in a field next to the A698 near Heiton, say officers.
The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, according to a Police Scotland spokesperson.
Sergeant Stephen Granger said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact us.
“We also ask any motorists in the area at the time who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 1737 of September 1, 2024.”
