A 48-YEAR-OLD man has been accused of threatening to shoot police officers during an incident at a remote hotel in the Borders.
Edward Barker faces two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour at the Mosspaul Inn on May 9 last year.
It is alleged he was shouting and swearing, uttering threats, brandishing a firearm and acting in an aggressive manner towards his wife.
Barker is also charged with shouting and swearing and uttering threats including threats to shoot police officers and approaching a male constable and kissing him on the cheek.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges when the case called at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
A trial date has been fixed for April 25 next year and Barker, who gave a Hawick address, was released on bail.
A bomb disposal team was sent to the Mosspaul Inn after the alarm was raised about last year’s incident forcing the closure of the A7 between Hawick and Langholm for several hours.
