St Ronan’s Silver Band is gearing up for its Autumn Concert this weekend at a church in Innerleithen.
The concert, under the direction of musical maestro Chris Shanks, is set for Saturday, September 21, at 2.30pm in the Innerleithen Church of Scotland.
Tickets for the concert are available at https://the-hub-cic.square.site/product/st-ronan-s-silver-band-autumn-concert/61?cs=true
This will be the first concert Mr Shanks has led since he began working with the band in January.
The programme promises a mix of tunes, from James Bond themes to music from Chicken Run, appealing to a broad audience.
Mr Shanks, a product of the Salvation Army at Bellshill, began his musical journey at the age of six, playing tenor horn in the junior band.
He later switched to euphonium and continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music and Drama, now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Apart from his role as a music educator, he has been the principal euphonium of the renowned Whitburn Band and has played for various other bands.
He is also an associate conductor of the Whitburn Band and a resident musical director with the EverReady Band.
Mr Shanks has a busy playing career and is a Besson Euphonium Artist.
Tickets can also be purchased in person at The Hub on the High Street in Innerleithen and Caldwell's Homemade Ice Cream in Peebles.
The doors for the concert will open at 2pm.
