The Clovenfords Hotel shut down in March and has been advertised for new tenancy ever since.
Now, owners Star Pubs have announced a refurbishment package for the site, providing it can sign on a permanent operator.
A spokesperson for Star Pubs said: "Subject to recruiting a new operator, we are looking to undertake a major refurbishment of the Clovenfords Hotel, which will transform it into a characterful country pub and a go-to for food, drinks, sport and sociable occasions, appealing to locals and visiting tourists alike.
"The interior will be fully redecorated and it will also benefit from a new insulated conservatory roof to create an all-year-round space with 140 internal and 112 external covers.
"Anyone interested can find out more information at starpubs.co.uk or call our recruitment team on 08085 949596."
A refurbishment investment of around £260,000 is earmarked to upgrade the interior of the Clovenfords, to restore it to its “rightful position of a characterful village pub with letting rooms”.
A description from Star Pubs said: “The pub is the only venue in the village, making it the natural meeting place for locals while attracting visitors from surrounding towns.
“The refurbishment will transform the pub’s interior, redecorating both bar areas, upgrading toilets and refitting the conservatory with a new insulated roof system to create a comfortable all-year-round dining space.
“The back bar will be refreshed, fixed seating reupholstered, and new lighting and furniture will complete the scheme.”
The Clovenfords, on Vine Street, is available on a Star Pubs investment tenancy agreement.
