A BUDDING Peebles footballer is set to earn international honours next month after being called into the BoysGirls Scotland under-15 squad.
Winger Summer Noble, 15, currently plays for Spartans under-17s in Edinburgh having started kicking a ball as a five-year-old for Peebles FC.
Now, she’s set to pull on the famous navy blue jersey against Wales on July 19 at Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview ground.
The teen was one of 16 players to make the squad from an original trial of 185 girls and proud mum Kelly admitted her daughter ‘burst into tears’ on learning the news that she’d be playing for Scotland.

She said: “She lives, breathes and sleeps football and has done since she started out as a five-year-old at Peebles FC. It’s her passion and she’s so dedicated.
“We saw the trials advertised and she’s actually got some friends who have been selected in previous years and it was something she wanted to go to the trials.
“There were 185 at the first trial and then 44 invited back for the second. We actually got to watch the second trial and the talent was phenomenal, I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to select the team.
“She said she was happy that she gave it her best shot and what ever happens will happen. The next day we got told she’d made the team and she burst into tears. She was so happy but I think also delighted that the hard work had paid off for her.”
Summer now gets to take part in a camp and stay with her team-mates and coaches at Stirling University prior to the game against the Welsh before making her Scotland debut.
Ms Noble added: “It’s going to be a wonderful experience for her and she’s going to be presented with her Scotland cap. We’re proud as parents and I know she’s proud too. She’s works hard and gives it everything and it’s great to see her get this reward.”
