TWO sites in Galashiels are among seven across the south of Scotland to compete for wedding venue of the year.

The Kingsknowes Hotel and Old Gala House Museum and Gallery will battle against Branxholm Park House and Mansfield House Hotel in Hawick, plus three other venues in Dumfries and Stranraer at the 2018 Scottish Wedding Awards in Glasgow on February 26.

Several other Borders businesses have received nominations for next week's ceremony.

Edelweiss in Galashiels, Flowers of Melrose, Lily of the Valley in Hawick and Flower Expressions in Selkirk have been nominated in the south category for florist of the year.

Over in Hawick, Hunter's Bakers will be hoping their colourful creations will see them crowned as the south's cake designer of the year.

While in Kelso, Hector Innes photography is in the running to snap up the south of Scotland's photographer of the year.

Make-up artist Anna Millington, from Melrose, is up against three other specialists from Dumfries to win freelance wedding hair and makeup specialist of the year.

Meanwhile, Kelso business Weddings by Noon Entertainments has a double chance at scooping a prestigious award.

They're up against eight others across Scotland for spinning the best tracks to be Wedding DJ of the year.

And the team are among with eight other nominees around the country, including Sitting Pretty Chair Covers in Hawick, to win the award for outstanding supplier.

Now in their sixth year, the Scottish Wedding Awards recognise and reward excellence in all aspects of business practice, including the talent and specialisation of those in the industry that make the big day the best it can be.
