RENOWNED Scottish folk singer Alex Hodgson is set to visit Darnick later this month in a performance arranged by Rolling Hills Folk Club.

Alex, a finalist in the 'Burnsong' song writing competition in 2005 and 2009, will bring his unique blend of musical talent and larger-than-life stage presence to the Smith Memorial Hall on Friday, April 5.

Hailing from Prestonpans, he has performed at The Scottish Parliament, the Queen's Ghillie Ball and the Radio Scotland Hogmanay Show.

His talents have even seen him perform to audiences in Cape Town and Kuala Lumpur, though local audiences can hear him on a regular slot on the Forth 2 Radio programme 'The Best of Scottish’.

In addition to musical performance Alex, a born anecdotalist, is passionate about storytelling for adults and children alike.

He has appeared at Newton Mearns Storytelling Festival and workshops at the City Arts Centre, Edinburgh.

Tickets for what is sure to be an entertaining evening are available now, priced at £7 and £6 for concessions - under 18s and Young Scot cardholders will be admitted free of charge.

Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
