THE liquidation company brought into a Tweedbank printing firm last week are attempting to find a buyer.

As we reported last week 14 members of staff at Meigle Colour Printers were told they were losing their jobs.

After running into financial trouble bosses appointed KPMG as liquidators with the auditor opting to cease trading immediately.

Efforts are now being made to sell the company name as well as its assets.

Blair Nimmo from KPMG said: "It is sad to see another printing firm, particularly one as well established as Meigle, enter liquidation, with the loss of employment to the Scottish Borders.

"We will do everything we can to seek a buyer for the company's assets to maximise recoveries for creditors.

"We would encourage any party who has an interest in acquiring the company's assets, which include high-quality printing equipment, stock and the brand name, to contact us as soon as possible."

Meigle Colour Printers was founded in the early 1970s in Galashiels.

Skills Development Scotland and Scottish Borders Council, along with KPMG, are working with the employees to offer support and advice.
