POLICE are urging residents in the Borders to be vigilant after a van was stolen near Hawick.
The incident happened last Friday, November 13, night when a grey coloured Volkswagen Caddy Van with the registration SM64 BXX, was stolen from outside a farmhouse north of Hawick.
Thousands of pounds worth of power tools were inside the vehicle when it was stolen, including an orange and black nailgun, a Dewalt cordless drill and an orange Fein screw gun.
Investigating officers are appealing for information in an effort to recover the stolen items and to trace those responsible.
PC Steven Irvine of Police Scotland said: "Our inquiry into this matter is ongoing and I ask anyone who has information that can assist with this investigation to contact police as soon as practicable.
"As well as the theft of the vehicle there were a number of power tools kept in the van by the owner.
"Anyone who has been approached to buy second-hand tools in the area recently and is concerned should contact police on 101.
"Alternatively information can be passed anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
