FITNESS instructor Stephanie Common has gone more than the distance in a bid to help her clients with multiple sclerosis.

The former Earlston High pupil from Galashiels now works with Live Borders at Teviotdale Leisure Centre.

And amongst her clients as several sufferers of MS.

To raise awareness of the debilitating condition as well as funds for research into a cure, Stephanie took part in a 10-hour combat-athon.

And she raised a whopping £2400.

Fitness fans from across the area signed up for hour-long sessions with Jackie Wilson and Lesley Adams managing to complete the whole ten.

Chris Allan from Hawick, who has MS, lent moral support for his fitness instructor during the fundraiser.

Stephanie's sister Fiona Common told us: "Part of Stephanie's job involves working with clients suffering from MS and this is why she wanted to hold the fundraiser to raise awareness and money.

"She was very emotional and overwhelmed by the end of it all from everyone's support and achieving the 10 hours of body combat.

"It is an incredible amount of money to raise."
