WITNESSES are being sought after a handcrafted wooden bench was vandalised in Hawick.

The incident happened between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, April 14 outside Hawick High School in the Buccleuch Road area.

Three male suspects approached the bench before causing damage which is estimated to cost over £100 to repair.

Officers are now appealing for information and ask anyone who can help with ongoing inquiries to get in touch.

Constable Dianne Lauder from Hawick Police Station said: “Vandalism is a mindless act which is completely unacceptable.

“I would ask anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area around the High School on Saturday evening to come forward.

“Similarly anyone who can help us trace those responsible is asked to contact us as soon as possible.”
