A JEDBURGH care home has been recognised for its excellence in food safety and hygiene.

Bield’s Milfield Gardens was awarded the Eat Safe Award, which is run by the national agency Food Standards Scotland in conjunction with Scottish Borders Council.

Awards are given to businesses that have consistently high food hygiene and training standards - beyond what’s required by law.

Fiona McLaren, Catering Officer at Bield, said: "Our staff all over the country always work incredibly hard to make sure our food hygiene and safety standards are as high as possible, while also ensuring our residents enjoy delicious and nutritious meals.

"We’re, of course, delighted that the hard work put in at Milfield Gardens has been recognised with this respected award, highlighting the standards we set ourselves at Bield," she added.

"We always try to go above and beyond in everything we do to make our tenants and residents as comfortable as possible."
Milfield Gardens is just one of eleven Bield developments presented with the award in Scotland.
