Berwickshire’s Cameron Tindle completed a memorable Scottish sprint double in the Under 17s category.

The 15-year-old, who is coached by Henry Gray at Eyemouth, clocked an impressive 10.72 to win the 100 metres.

And he followed it up with a clear win in the 200 metres in a time of 22.03 seconds.

Coach Gray said: “It was unbelievable performances yet again from Cameron - he’s getting quicker all the time.” Dolphinton long-jumper Jordan Charters also struck gold. The 18-year-old, who competes for Lasswade, claimed the Under 20s title with a distance of 6.73 metres.

Chirnside Chasers have quickly established themselves amongst the leading middle-distance clubs in the country. And on Saturday three of their boys reached the final of the Under 13s 800 metres. Rory Williams claimed silver while Josh Abbot was fourth and Jamie Kinghorn eighth. There was also a silver medal for 11-year-old Adam Leighton in the Under 13s High Jump. The TLJT athlete reached a new best height of 1.45 metres - only clipping the 1.50 metres bar - to finish just behind Owen Ashall of Edinburgh.

Selkirk’s Zaynah Aziz won bronze in the Under 15s 800 metres after a thrilling three-way sprint finish in the home straight.

The 14-year-old was edged out by Piteavie’s Iona Crawford and Carolyn Cameron of Edinburgh.

Coach Stephen Nisbet said: “It came down to the three of them for the medals. We’re happy with bronze but it could have been even better.” Several other Borders athletes reached the finals with Angus Bryce of TLJT finishing fifth in both the Under 13s 100 metres and 200 metres. West Linton’s Dominic O’Hare finished strongly to claim sixth in the final of the Under 20s 1500 metres. And Innerleithen’s Eve Huxley finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the final of the Under 15s 100 metres and 200 metres. TLJT’s Laura Munro was eighth in the same 100 metres final.

Ellie O’Hara from the Moorfoots club was just outside the Under 13s Long Jump medals - finishing fourth with a distance of 4.48 metres.

And fellow Peebles athlete Niamh Shaw crossed the Under 15s 800 metres finishing line in eighth.
