SEVENS stars of the future will be side-stepping their way to the Greenyards next weekend for a few tips from the experts.

Stars Mark Robertson and Scott Wight, who helped Scotland to back-to-back Twickenham 7s, are returning to the Home of Rugby Sevens for their ever-popular summer camp throughout next weekend.

Both players began their own highly-successful careers at Melrose - and they expect a few of the faces who have been graduating from their School of Sevens camps will also reach the top.

Scott told us: "Every year we see plenty of talent at the School of Sevens camps

"In terms of learning rugby, the shorter game is so much better as the players get a lot more touches and have to make a lot more decisions.

"The way we set up the camps makes sure that everyone is involved all the time."

Since starting the School of Sevens camps in the Borders four years ago, hundreds of young players across the country have benefitted from the coaching, guidance and insights from the international stars.

A few places are still available for the two-day school in Melrose, which runs from 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday (July 14 and 15).

During August Wight and Robertson will also stage schools in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The schools are open to all boys between the ages of 11 and 16.
