GOLDEN girls Ellie O'Hara and Kiera Waddell continued their dominance of age-group athletics at the weekend.

Ellie set a new championship record as she won the Scottish Under 17s triple jump at Grangemouth with a distance of 11.77 metres.

The 15-year-old from Cardrona also collected silver in the long jump with a leap of 5.48 metres - just two centimetres behind the winner.

Joining Ellie on the podium for the triple jump was her 14-year-old training partner Imogen Lewis from Peebles, who finished runner-up with a distance of 10.79 metres.

Kiera also set a new championship record with her throw of 43.21 metres to claim the Under 17s Javelin.

Berwickshire's Cameron Tindle made a welcome return to competition by claiming silver in the senior 200 metres behind Edinburgh Ac's Allan Hamilton.

The 22-year-old former Scottish champion clocked 21.76 in a close final.

There was also a silver medal for Chirnside's Ben Evans in the Under 17s javelin with a throw of 43.72 metres.

Midlem's Zoe Pflug earned a silver medal in the Under 20s 5,000 metres behind Constance Nankivell from Sutherland.

And her training partner at Gala Harriers Callum Tharme also reached the podium in the final of his under 20s 5,000 metres, finishing third behind Cambuslang's Gavin Smith.

Peebles athlete Charlotte Clare also returned home with a bronze medal after chasing Livingston's Isla Calvert down the straight in the final of the Under 17s 800 metres.
