STRUGGLING Lossiemouth stand between Gala Fairydean Rovers and a place in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Joe Russell's team have lost all eight of their Highland League games so far this season - conceding an average of five goals per game.

Despite Gala having home advantage over The Coasters, manager Dean Shanks has issued a word of warning. He said: "I have been involved with a few cup shocks myself and I know they will come to Gala looking to cause one.

"Home advantage makes a huge difference but we will still give Lossiemouth the respect they deserve and have them watched in the next week or two."

Vale of Leithen have a more familiar opponent.

Chris Anderson's team travel to Raydale to face Gretna - a team they beat 6-1 just over a week ago.

The manager admits the Cup match will be a lot closer. He said: "It will be a completely different game down at Raydale - Gretna will be hurting from the defeat and will want revenge.

"I think we are capable of going down there and winning and it's long overdue as Vale haven't reached the second round for some time."

Coldstream were rewarded for their 3-0 win over Newton Stewart in the final preliminary round with a trip to Strathspey Thistle.

The Jags are third bottom of the Highland League with only two points from their opening eight games.
