Greenlaw are the only Borders side left in the Scottish Amateur Cup thanks to Dean Carruthers double.

The Berwickshire side held West Lothian’s Murieston United to a 2-2 draw at WS Happer Memorial Park, having led twice in the second half.

A Greenlaw spokesman said: “It was a hard-fought game and we are expecting more of the same in the replay at Murieston this weekend.”

Hawick Waverley suffered their first defeat for nine months as Linlithgow Rose beat the Teries 2-1.

Taylor Hope got the goal for Hawick, with Ryan Clapperton almost forcing a replay only to hit the crossbar.

And there were heavy cup defeats for Langlee Amateurs – who lost 9-3 at Ayrshire side Ardrossan Castle Rovers – and Gordon, who were hammered 8-2 at home to Bowhill Rovers of Fife.

Stow were denied a second Division A win of the season as Craig Cuthbert rescued a point for Langholm Legion.

Fraser Jackson had put the Villagers ahead but Cuthbert converted a late penalty for Legion, who had Finley Dell sent off in the first half.

Stow boss Kenny Donaldson said: “It was Fraser’s first goal for the club and much deserved. It was his best performance since coming to Stow.”

A depleted Gala Hotspur suffered an 8-1 hammering at Hawick United, with Sean Clarke netting four.

A Jamie Swailes screamer helped Jed Legion to their first win of the season with a 4-1 win over Tweeddale Rovers. Cammy Grieve, Nathan Gillie and Ashley Langford sealed the win for Jed.

In Division B, Scott Turnbull’s double condemned Earlston Rhymers to another loss as Coldstream Amateurs won 4-1 at Runciman Park.

Tweedmouth Amateurs moved into second with a 3-0 win over Leithen Rovers and Stuart Coyle’s two goals saw their Northumberland rivals Berwick Colts also take three points against Biggar United.

Former Gala Fairydean Rovers player Grant Robinson returned to Netherdale to strike a hat-trick as Ancrum thrashed Gala 8-0 in Division C.

Jordan Nuttall also scored three in the win which takes Ancrum second top behind Tweedmouth Harrow, who dropped their first points of the season in a 3-3 draw at Hawick Legion Rovers.

Having suffered a 14-0 loss in the South Cup, Kelso Amateurs showed tremendous heart to win their first match of the season as they triumphed 3-1 at Melrose, and Highfields United thumped Tweeddale Rovers Colts.
