Selkirk 27
GHA 21
SELKIRK emerged victorious on Saturday in a hard-fought encounter with GHA.
The visitors raced into an early 14 point lead after twice breaking through the home defence to score converted tries.
But the home team responded well and gradually worked their way back into the match.
A Fraser Anderson try just before the hour lifted home spirits.
And Scott Clark narrowed the gap to a single score with his well-taken conversion.
Before the break Scott McClymont finished off some good work from the pack to bring the home team closer.
And Clark's conversion levelled the scores.
A Clark penalty early in the second half gave Selkirk the lead for the first time.
But the match continued to hang in the balance as the teams traded tries either side of the hour.
At 24-21 and with time ticking away both teams threw everything they had into getting a winning try.
In the end Selkirk forced a penalty within range - and Rory Banks slotted the ball between the posts.
