AT the weekend's National Open athletics meeting in Glasgow, Peebles triple jumper Kate Harvie, aged just 13 years old, produced an outstanding 10.29 metres in her first ever competition.

The Linda Nicholson coached athlete's distance at the Emirates Arena takes her to third on the all-time list for Under 15 indoor performances.

Kate also went on to produce a lifetime best of 4.62 metres in long jump, taking her to second in the current Scottish rankings for U15 girls.

Imogen Lewis produced a modest first outing triple jump of 10.64 metres to head the Scottish U17 early season rankings, taking advantage of 16 year old, and Scottish record holder, Ellie O'Hara's three no jumps, which left her without a distance to post.

Despite her disappointment in the triple jump Cardrona's Ellie set a new lifetime best of 5.74 metres in the long jump, which tops the U17 rankings to date.

On the track, promising Lilliesleaf sprinter Finn Douglas reached the podium in his first outing as an Under 17s athlete.

The 15-year-old, who runs for TLJT, was third behind Glasgow's Sol Stewart in the 60 metres with a time of 7.45 seconds.

TLJT training partner Scott Tindle was also third in the Under 20s 60 metres behind Stephen Mackenzie with a time of 7.52 seconds.
