A BORDERS training provider is on side with the region's top disability team.

Galashiels-based Bruce Robertson Training have been unveiled as the new sponsors of Gala Fairydean Rovers' Disability Squad.

The Netherdale team are currently top of National League 2 under the guidance of head coach Tommy Patterson.

And the manager was on hand last week to welcome Bruce Robertson from the new sponsors to training to hand over the new strips.

Tommy told us: "We are immensely grateful to Bruce Robertson Training for their support of the Disability Football Squad for the next three years.

"There are obviously a number of costs associated with running a Disability team and the support from Bruce as main sponsor helps us with strip and travel costs to our fixtures in central Scotland.

"We will shortly be announcing the support of another local business who is contributing towards the cost of training kit and equipment.

"The support of these local companies is key to allowing us to provide quality training and games to the squad."

Bruce Robertson Training work in partnership with like-minded agencies to support the unemployed back into work and specialises in CSCS health and safety courses for the construction industry.

And Mr Robertson was delighted to be backing the club which features players from all over the region.

Bruce said: "I am delighted to sponsor the team for the next three years and after attending a training session I can appreciate the true value of inclusion through football which brings a feeling of belonging to every member of the squad and in doing so also increases individual self-esteem and confidence.

"The club have developed a team that have performed to justify sponsorship over the past few years having gone on a long unbeaten run in their respective league.

"In sponsoring the squad I hope that they can further develop under Tommy Patterson and his team and in doing so also continue to support the ethos of Gala Fairydean Rovers."
