WHILE Scotland attempt to claim their first win over France in Paris for 20 years this weekend, the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust hopes its sponsorship of the Mini Maroons can help inspire Gala's next internationalist.

The Trust has handed over £1,500 to the junior rugby club which will see rain jackets and hooded jumpers provided to all players next season.

Mini Maroons Chairman Sinclair Paterson said: "We have over 100 Primary 1 to 7 boys and girls at the club who are improving every week, with the help of our team of volunteer coaches.

"This support from the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust is a huge help and should inspire our youngsters to continue playing rugby into secondary school and beyond."

Dave Boland, Chairman of the Trust, added: "The Mini Maroons are providing a great opportunity for children in the Galashiels area to play rugby in a fun and friendly environment and we are delighted to support their good work."
