GALA Fairydean Rovers Under 13s emerged victorious in a scintillating Edinburgh Cup final against Tynecastle at New Dundas Park, Bonnyrigg on Sunday.

The Braw Lads scored a vital extra-time winner after the match had finished four-all.

A double from Harris Fairgrieve assisted by strikes by Swan, Ostle and McClemont helped seal the victory.

Coaches George Fairgrieve, Lee Martin and Gary Tait we’re delighted with the performance.

Interviewed after the game by Youth Football Scotland, Fairgrieve said: "The boys were outstanding right from the start of the game. It’s probably the best we’ve played all season which is unusual to do in a cup final.

"We were superb and probably deserved to win it.”

Chair of the Gala Fairydean Rovers Academy, Garry Fraser, was full of praise as well.

He said: "What a great day for everyone involved with Gala Fairydean Rovers.

"The club is delighted that the hard work and efforts of the players and the coaching staff of our Under 13s has been rewarded with the Edinburgh Cup win.

"We are proud of every single one of them.”
