HAWICK United’s bid to end a 47 year wait for the South Cup remain alive after they made the final of the competition.
United defeated Tweeddale Rovers 2-0 at Innerleithen thanks to Sean Clarke’s strike and an own goal.
Manager George Shepherd said: “I cannot be more proud of the team. Every one of them was outstanding.”
In the other semi-final on Friday night, defending champions Hawick Waverley lost 3-2 to Carluke Hearts with a red card for captain Davis Hope on half an hour proving crucial.
Mark Telfer scored two and Stephen Ferguson a third as Hearts edged out Waverley, whose goals came from Taylor Hope and Jason Inglis.
William Smillie’s solitary strike sealed a Greenlaw victory over Jed Legion which ensured the Berwickshire side finished second in Division A.
Newtown suffered a blow to their promotion hopes from Division B after losing 5-4 at Biggar United.
Despite a Jack Hay hat-trick, Newtown were edged out and now face a potential winner-takes-all clash with Tweedmouth Amateurs next Tuesday.
Des Sutherland made it 11 goals in a week with a treble in Langlee’s thrashing of Coldstream Amateurs to give them a three point lead at the top of the league.
Sutherland had scored two and six goals in his previous two games, and added a hat-trick in a 6-1 win against the Streamers, alongside goals from Gary Cleghorn, Billy Miller and Danny Bolton.
Earlston Rhymers’ hopes of staying in Division B are hanging by a thread after a 5-4 defeat at Berwick Colts leaving the Rhymers needing to win each of their last three games, while Duns Amateurs and Kelso Thistle also won.
And another Scott Learmond hat-trick helped Selkirk Victoria get over their cup final defeat the week previous with a 4-1 win against Kelso Amateurs at Yarrow Park in Division C.
