IT turned into a battle of the Fjordhus Borders Reivers as the Tweedbank-based club's seconds and thirds raced for the East District Premier Division.

Throughout the season the Ladies 2s and Ladies 3s teams have been alternating between first and second in the table.

And it all came down to the final game of the season at the weekend.

Fjordhus 2s needed a win in their final game against Grange 3s to snatch the title away from Fjordhus 3s, who, having already played their final match, sat on 59 points.

With a superior goal difference, reaching 59 points would place the Seconds on top.

Following a tense first half on Sunday against Grange the teams turned around goalless.

Fjordhus had been unable to really threaten the Grange goal and at the other end the defence of Emma Spence, Jenny Sharp, Janet Jack and Imogen Dawson, with a composed Amy Davenport in goal, were kept busy clearing their lines.

The second half was a different story however, and with a slight shuffle in positions in defence, the Reivers Ladies started finding the space in midfield with Elena Lunn, Natasha Cranston, Denise Fairbairn and Laura Mclean creating lots of scoring opportunities with Beth Logan and Olivia Kerr up front.

Goals from Elena Lunn, Emma Spence, Olivia Kerr and Natasha Cranston secured a 4-0 victory and the League title.
