GALA Fairydean Rovers Disability Team completed an impressive double after winning the Scottish Cup to add to their Pan Disability League 2 title at Little Kerse Football complex last week.

The format decided by the SFA for the final saw the Netherdale Squad playing a best of three games against one of the best footballing teams in Division 2, Claremont Colts, and they certainly had to work hard for the three victories needed to pick up the silverware.

With the first game finishing 3-0, all goals coming from star striker, Ryan Napier, it looked like the Dean would be on easy street, but Claremont battled hard in the second tie, only losing out by the odd goal in five, this after having an early goal disallowed.

Gala stopper Nat Jones had an inspired game with some magnificent saves.

Napier was a hat-trick hero for the second game in a row, but he wasn't quite finished yet scoring a further five goals in the concluding match helping to send the trophy to Netherdale with a final score of 5-1.

Family and friends cheered as captain David Smith lifted the Scottish Cup to complete a memorable season.

Head Coach Tommy Patterson told us: "The boys did themselves and the Club proud today with great performances in very warm conditions. They have been superb this season from their first game to the last and deservedly have been rewarded with this double."
