AN excellent unbeaten knock of 93 by Greg Fenton guided Selkirk to a nailbiting Murgitroyd 2020 Cup win over Gala.

Fenton’s score helped Selkirk to a competitive total of 141 for seven but Gala looked well set to win when they headed into the last over needing six for victory.

But Blair Gillie bowled an excellent over to restrict Gala to two runs, and set up a regional final against either Kelso or Hawick.

Batting first, Selkirk got off to a great start with Fenton finding some form for the first time this season, supported by Rory Banks (32).

When Banks was run out, the innings slowed down but the final four overs saw Selkirk add 43 runs, with Fenton hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes.

In reply, Gala got off to a solid start with Siddhu (56) and Duncan Millar (19) putting on 42 for the first wicket before the latter was caught by Fenton off the bowling of Banks.

Jamie Crooks played some of the best shots of the match as he and Siddhu put on an 82 run partnership.

Crooks departed for 38 and Siddhu and Graeme Ormiston just failed to get Gala over the winning line in a dramatic final over.
