DUNS claimed their first Wright Cup win in 16 years in dramatic circumstances thanks to a late winner against Ancrum.

Dougie Brydon scored his second of the match in the closing stages to help the Dingers to a thrilling 3-2 victory at Kelso’s Woodside Park.

But there was disappointment for Berwickshire neighbours Greenlaw who were knocked out of the Scottish Amateur Cup in a first round replay loss to Ratho Athletic, with William Smillie sent off in the 2-0 loss.

Tweeddale Rovers and Hawick Waverley will compete for the Border Cup after both made it through close semi-finals.

Steven Shennan, Daniel Pattenden and Michael Gillen scored for Chirnside United but two Callum Frain spot kicks and a Scott Latto goal for Tweeddale meant their cup tie finished 3-3 after 120 minutes.

But the Peebles side squeezed through to the final, winning 4-3 on penalties as they aim to lift their first ever Border Cup.

However, they will face a Waverley side aiming for a hat-trick of Border Cups after a Dean McColm double helped the Teries beat Langlee Amateurs 4-2.

Selkirk Victoria and Hawick Legion will compete for the Collie Cup after differing semi-final wins.

Despite only having a squad of 12 available, Derek Whitehead’s Vics side hammered Tweeddale Rovers Colts 8-1, as Scott Learmond and Ryan Clapperton both notched doubles.

But Hawick Legion needed an extra time winner to knock out Gala Fairydean Rovers, as Sean Clarke scored two and Michael Moir the third in a 3-2 victory.

Craig Livingstone scored from his own half as Gordon won their first game of the season against Hawick United in Division A, while goals from Barry Rayson, Craig Cuthbert and Scott Borthwick for Langholm Legion condemned Jed Legion to their fifth league loss in five games.

A dominant performance by Gala Hotspur led to a 5-0 win at local rivals Stow in Division B, with ex-Stow man Gareth Wood amongst the scorers for Spurs.

There were also big Division B wins for Tweedmouth Amateurs and Tweedmouth Harrow.

Melrose went top of Division C as Ashley Langford scored two in a tight win over Kelso Amateurs, and Danny Simpson also found the net twice for Earlston Rhymers as they won 2-1 over Highfields United.

And Siris Davidson bagged a hat-trick to seal a second St Boswells win of the season against CFC Bowholm.
