REIGNING Division A champions Hawick Waverley defeated joint league leaders Newtown to move to a point behind their opponents.

Two goals in each half secured a 4-0 win for Waverley, with goals from Taylor and David Hope, Jordan Yardley and Scott Duncan.

Jed Legion claimed their first win of the season in style with a 7-1 thrashing of Hawick United. Cammy Grieve scored a hat-trick for Legion, who moved above United thanks to the win.

Chirnside United and Tweeddale Rovers shared the points in a 2-2 draw as Connor Lough scored two for United and Scott Latto and Grant Wilson replied for Rovers, who also missed a penalty.

Tweedmouth Harrow went six points clear at the top of Division B as their nearest challengers Duns and Tweedmouth Amateurs played out an entertaining 4-4 draw.

Dougie Brydon, Luke Strangeways, Fraser Bunyan and Gary Waddell scored for the Dingers.

Harrow took advantage by beating Biggar United 3-0 in Lanarkshire to go clear at the top of the league.

Bruce Runciman scored two for Stow as they hammered Coldstream Amateurs 5-1 to move up to seventh in the table.

Melrose’s Division C promotion challenge continues with a narrow 3-2 victory over Tweeddale Rovers Colts, as Keith Mcauley, Iain Buckley and Colin Turnbull found the net.

Dylan Irving scored a last minute equaliser to ensure CFC Bowholm picked up their first point since their return to the Border Amateur League against Kelso Amateurs, while Lauder defeated Highfields United.

In the Waddell Cup, Brian Mattinson’s double helped Langholm Legion knock out Ancrum 3-1, and Leithen Rovers defeated Kelso Thistle.
