HAWICK'S Rory Anderson recorded his first senior win on the Borders Cross Country Series at the weekend.

The improving Teviotdale Harrier led all the way at Spittal to break the tape 11 seconds ahead of Cameron Fordyce.

Alex Luetchford from Hunter Bog Trotters was a further five seconds back in third.

Other prominent local athletes were Marc Wilkinson from Lauderdale Limpers who finished eighth, and Gala Harrier duo Brian Aitchison and Colin Brown, who crossed the finishing line in 12th and 13th, respectively.

Lauderdale's Sally Barr followed up her previous round's success at Galashiels by winning the women's race.

Dunbar's Rowenna Halliday was 17 seconds further back in second with Gillian Carr from the Moorfoots club finishing strongly for third.

A total of 183 seniors completed the coastal cross-country course.

Gala Harriers enjoyed a one-two in the junior race with Gregor Collins finishing ss ahead of Ewan Christie.

East Lothian's Angus Wright was a further five seconds back in third with Calum Renwick from Hawick claiming fourth.

East Lothian's Bridget Harley was first girl home, ahead of Lauderdale's Libby Barr and Teviotdale's Iona Jamieson.

A total of 97 juniors completed the shorter course.

The fourth round of the Borders Winter Cross Country Series takes place on Sunday, December 15 at Peebles.
