Southern Knights 12

Heriot's 19

KNIGHTS are still searching for their first win following yet another disappointing duel at The Greenyards.

Heriot's impressed during a stormy match with some expansive rugby.

And for long periods the Southern team were pinned deep in their own half.

Knights head coach Rob Chrystie had no complaints about the final score. He said: "Heriot's had better game management than we did."

Surprisingly it was the Knights who struck first on Saturday.

Heriot's were probing for a way through when Patrick Anderson capitalised on a dropped pass to boot upfield.

The centre showed some great footwork to dribble the loose ball into the path of Joe Jenkins to score the try.

Jason Baggot added the conversion.

But that was as good as it got for the home support as Heriot's continued to knock on the door with some powerful drives and quick hands in the backs.

Knights managed to repel the threat through to the interval.

A yellow card for Russell Anderson gave the Goldenacre team the chink of light they had been looking for.

And they were awarded a penalty try a short time later as the home team collapsed a scrum.

Heriot's added to their tally a few minutes later as more quick handling sent Jack Blain over in the corner.

Heriot's secured their third try with Michael Liness finishing off another fine move.

Ross Jones added the conversion for 19-7 advantage.

Knights did finish the match on top and they were rewarded for their final seven minutes of pressure with a Baggott try.

But his attempted quick drop kick conversion was skewed wide - ending a fairly miserable day for Chrystie's team.
