EARLSTON Rhymers produced a South Cup shock to dump Ancrum out of the competition.
Rhymers, who play in Division C, thrashed Division B team Ancrum 5-0, with Craig Livingstone scoring a double in their round two tie at Bridgend.
A Luke Strangeways hat-trick saw Duns knock out 2018 South Cup finalists Bonnyrigg Rose, while Chirnside United also defeated a Lothian and Edinburgh Amateur League side as Conor Lough scored two in a 5-1 win over Linton Hotspur.
But there was heartbreak for Gala Fairydean Rovers as a late Jamie Henderson goal for Law Community sent the Netherdale men out the cup 2-1, whose goal came from Brem Kirk.
Last year’s South Cup finalists Hawick United are into the last 16 after edging past Danderhall 5-3 on penalties, with the game finishing 2-2 after extra time. Lewis Muir grabbed both of United’s goals.
Hawick Waverley also had an impressive win as Taylor Hope grabbed four in an 8-3 triumph at Shotts Thistle, while William Smillie and Mark Long helped Greenlaw to a 3-1 victory at Pencaitland.
A Jordan Steele double allowed Stow to see off Selkirk Victoria 2-1, and Jack Hay notched four as Newtown hammered Kelso Amateurs 11-0.
Hawick Legion were defeated by the same scoreline at Pathhead, and Coldstream Amateurs and Tweedmouth Harrow were also defeated.
