Lismore 14

GALA YM gave East 3 League leaders Lismore a fright at Netherdale on Saturday when they dominated territory and possession for nearly an hour, with the visitors defending desperately at times.

Lismore took the lead after 10 minutes from a great break by their centre from half way and he set up a try in the corner.

The touchline conversion made it 7-0.

But YM soon took a grip on the game by winning a lot of turnovers and play was almost entirely in the visitors half till the interval.

Lismore got the ball early in the second half and scored another excellent try from their own half.

And once again it was converted from the touchline for a 14-point lead.

YM were not going to let them run away with the game as they did at home, and once again they took the match by the scruff of the neck.

Lismore showed how they were top of the league, though, as they thwarted every thing that YM threw at them, sometimes illegally and twice the visitors were down to 14 men with yellow cards.

A score had to come and after more than 10 phases on the Lismore line Ben Reid dived over for the try.

Adam Williams converted from wide out and YM were back in it .

Unfortunately in the time remaining, YM pinned the visitors deep into their half but the Lismore defence held out to the end.

YM had to settle for the one losing bonus point.

Rhuary Horsburgh was YM’s man of the match after some great tackling.
