VALE of Leithen gaffer Chris Anderson was upbeat despite his team remaining bottom after being held to a draw in the relegation clash with Edinburgh University.

Abdul Yusuf had fired the Students in front before Alex Imlah responded for the home team at Victoria Park.

Anderson said: “We’ve got to look at this positively as we are now a point closer to the other two teams above us.

“There any one of four teams that could finish bottom and every point is a good point for us.

“It was a game we could have won today but the draw certainly gives us something to build on for the games coming up.”

Third-bottom Gretna were beaten 3-1 by leaders Kelty Hearts at Raydale.

A Dylan Easton double and Ross Philp strike inside the opening 25 minutes secured the points for Barry Ferguson’s side.

Struggling Dalbeattie Star also lost to Stirling University after having two players red-carded at Islecroft Stadium.

Lee Wells and Ross Thomson were both given their marching orders for the home team, with Euan Baird netting late for the Students.

Bonnyrigg Rose kept up the pressure at the top with a 5-1 thumping of 10-man Cumbernauld Colts at New Dundas Park.

A Jonathan Brown brace along with goals from Dean Brett, Lee Currie and Jamie Docherty delighted manager Robbie Horn.

He said: “I thought we were excellent today.

“It can often be even more difficult against 10 men but we kept our shape and our discipline.

“Cumbernauld is always a difficult game so I’m delighted to have won and also to have the five goals.”

Richard Kirwan was red carded for the visitors during the first half, with Stephen O’Neil scoring a late consolation.

A last-gasp Thomas Collins goal earned BSC Glasgow the points against East Stirlingshire at the Falkirk Stadium.

Blair Atkinson scored twice as Spartans beat Gala Fairydean Rovers 4-0 at Ainslie Park.

Jack Smith and Nicky Reid also scored for Dougie Samuel’s team.

Anton Brady and a Raffi Krissian own-goal helped East Kilbride claim a 2-0 win over Caledonian Braves.
