BORDERS bowler Julie Forrest claimed her eighth Scottish title at the weekend.

The Teviotdale player has been at the top of Scottish bowls for over a decade.

And at the weekend she produced yet another faultless display on the indoor green at Auchinleck to win the Ladies National Indoor Singles title.

Players from all over the country have attempted to reach the Taylor Bowls SIBA National Finals.

But Julie appeared to be a class above, claiming the title with a 21-10 victory over East Fife's Lynn Stein.

After a close opening 10 ends, with the score 9-8, Julie pulled away with seven unanswered shots in the next four ends.

Tweedbank duo Ben McGregor and Ross Nichol couldn't quite make it a Borders double after losing their final on a tie break.

The local pair had done well to reach the Gents Two Bowl Pairs final.

In a thrilling semi-final on the Saturday, Ross and Ben edged past Aberdeen with a 2-1 tie-break victory.

But they came unstuck in the final against Paisley's Jamie Corrigan and David Horne.

Despite racing into a 10-4 first set victory, they were defeated 9-3 in the second before losing the sudden-death tie-break.

Other winners of the Taylor Bowls SIBA National Finals Connor Milne of Turriff in the Gents' singles.

Stephen Lowrie from Glasgow won the junior national title.

And Dawn Anderson from host club Auchinleck claimed the ladies' junior final.

Abbeyview's Gemma Forrester and Lynn Lees won the ladies' two bowl pairs title.
