GALA YM travelled to Dalkeith in search of an East Bowl semi-final place.

But it was the Division 3 leaders made sure of victory with ten tries in a fantastic, open game of rugby.

The YM to their credit scored five excellent tries during the 100-point tie.

Gala went ahead after five minutes when Cammy Finlayson slotted home a penalty.

Dalkeith quickly replied using their big forwards to score twice in as many minutes - and both were converted.

When Dalkeith scored a third converted try, it looked like the game was slipping away from YM.

But they were boosted when Shane Kellett intercepted a pass to streak round behind the posts.

Finlayson converted to make it 21-10.

However, before the break Dalkeith had ran in a further three converted tries for a commanding 32 point lead.

YM were not going to give up and took play into the home 22 early in the second half.

After a thrust by Jamie Dewar saw him just short, Jason Graham was on hand to crash over.

Finlayson again added the extras.

Dalkeith scored a converted try as play went from end to end, before Kellett got his second try with blistering run up the touchline.

Finlayson again converted.

Dalkeith maintained their healthy advantage by continuing to score each time in response.

Kellett got his hat trick in the closing stages with another dazzling try.

And Finlayson’s conversion put YM into the 30s.

Dalkeith ran in two unconverted tries in the closing 10 minutes, but it was YM who got the final score when they engineered a fine try for Steven Patterson.

Shane Kellett was named YM’s man of the match.
