A REMARKABLE last leg by Borders teacher Stacey Downie helped Edinburgh to claim the Scottish Indoor 4x200 metres relay at the weekend.
The 32-year-old from West Linton, who is the outdoors 400 metres national champion, stormed round the Emirates Arena to make up 10 metres and snatch victory on the line.
Edinburgh had impressed in qualification but it was eventual runners-up Giffnock who look assured of gold after the opening two legs.
Sarah Malone's strong third leg for Edinburgh brought them into second but still adrift of the leaders at the bell.
But Downie, who is a former indoor sprint champion, ate into the gap with every stride.
Stacey told us: "I'm thrilled as we (Edinburgh) are the 4x100 metres champions as well."
