IT ENDED all square between Gala Fairydean Rovers and Cowdenbeath at Netherdale on Saturday following a competitive 90-minutes with both teams having chances to take all three points.

Gala took the lead in the 32nd minute flowing a handball inside the area from Cowdenbeath’s Alfie Robinson and Gregor Nicol sent Danny Farrell the wrong way from the resultant penalty kick.

Jack Garrad almost equalised immediately for the visitors when he clipped the ball over Gala keeper Ruairidh Adams but his effort rebounded off the post and the danger was cleared.

The Blue Brazil did equalise moments later when Scott Walker's throw in was flicked on by Dan Watt for Michael Cunningham to fire into the net.

Sam Newman almost gave the visitors the lead moments later but his shot was cleared off the line.

On the stroke of half time, Sam Young's header was tipped over the bar by Adams.

Martin Scott's side started the second-half on the front foot with and Gregor Jordan almost restored Gala’s lead with a powerful header from a corner but Farrell was able to tip the ball over the bar.

The referee was the only person inside the stadium that didn’t see the save and despite protests from the home players and fans he awarded a goal kick.

Gospel Ocholi then did well down the left wing but his efforts struck the side netting.

And at the other end, Garrad's cross was headed back across goal by Watt for Cunningham to head goalward but Adams got down well to deny Cunningham a second.

Jordan was then on hand to block a Cowdenbeath effort but Gals could have won it at the death with Ciaren Chalmers' header coming back off the base of the post before the ball was eventually cleared to safety after a huge stramash inside the six yard box.

Ocholi was the Man of the Match chosen by Match Sponsors SPG & Novomatic Gaming.
