GALA Fairydean Rovers completed their pre-season fixtures with an impressive 3-0 win over Newtongrange Star at Netherdale yesterday.

And if the Trophy Guy wants to save time next year he can engrave Sam Ostle’s name on the goal of the season trophy now.

A larger than normal crowd turned out for the fixture.

Danny Galbraith returned to the starting XI for the first time this season and skippered the side.

Border Telegraph:

Gala dominated throughout with Adam Watson in particular running riot down the right wing.

And it was one if his crosses that led to the opening goal.

Jamie Semple did well to old off a Newtongrange defender allowing the ball to find Lasana Drameh at the back post and the winger fired the ball into the net from an acute angle.

Then shortly before the break, 16-year-old Ostle scored a 35-yard wonder strike after a corner was cleared into his path.

The visitors had a chance to pull one ack when the referee spotted  an infringement inside the Gala box and booked Ciaran Greene.

The decision looked harsh and justice was done when youngster James Dick produced a superb save.

Nicky Reid wrapped things up with 12-minutes remaining after getting on the end of a Watson cross.

Rovers start their Lowland League campaign next Saturday with an away fixture against Broomhill.
