IT was a golden weekend at the Scottish Masters Athletics Championships in Aberdeen for evergreen Borders athletes.

Hawick’s Davie Rae stormed to victory in the Over 40s 100 metres with a time of 12.17 seconds.

And the 43-year-old Teviotdale Harrier followed it up with gold over 200 metres on the Aberdeen track.

There was also a double gold for fellow Teri Francis Cannon.

The 68-year-old broke the tape in the Over 65s 400 metres with a time of 74.15.

And the middle-distance pensioner clocked 2.47.21 on his way to gold in the 800 metres.

Peebles athlete Susan Ridley added to her collection of Scottish titles by winning the Over 50s 1500 metres with a time of 5.40.43.

But Hawick’s Le Notman found one too good in the final of the Over 40s 400 metres. The 40-year-old finished second in a time of 54.66.
