AN EAST Lothian family celebrated further jiu jitsu success at a prestigious event in Germany.

The Anderson family, who stay near Dunbar, travelled to Germany for the North American Grappling Association's tournamnet in Limburg.

The tournament featured some of the top European athletes, but 10-year-old Rory Anderson put in some tremendous performances to finish with a silver medal.

His brothers, Duncan (6) and nine-year-old Oliver, both claimed bronze medals to add to the family's remarkable haul.

Ryan Anderson, the boys' dad, was thrilled to see them perform so well.

He said: "It was their toughest competition yet.

"There were a lot of Russian athletes there and they're really well trained – they've all been doing the sport since they were really young.

"It's great for the boys, and that's them only been competing for a year."

And his wife Moya echoed those sentiments, and said the tournament had given the three boys – all pupils at Innerwick Primary School, aspects to work on.

She told Courier Sport: "It was very hard and certainly has exposed weaker elements of the game.

"However, we are all very proud and have lots to move forward with."

The trio's efforts were also praised by Janette Gordon, headteacher of Innerwick Primary School.

She told Courier Sport: "The school is very proud of the achievements of all the boys and looks forward to hearing of their continued success."

The combative trio are set to return to action next month, with the Blackpool Open marking the first anniversary of the boys' first competition.

They will travel south for that event on July 17.
