A PEEBLESSHIRE charity is encouraging residents to "pass it on" this March.
National 'Pass It On Week' takes place between Saturday, March 11 to Sunday, March 19 and Walkerburn re-use charity Home Basics is getting involved.
The team are holding an 'Electrical Amnesty' and trying to help increase the collection of small electricals, as these are known as one of the least ‘passed-on’ items. All too often these items get hoarded past their useful lifespan, or put in the bin.
Kate MacDonald from the charity told us: "Home Basics are looking for residents to donate small electrical items while they are still useful. There will be special collection points at both branches of the charity in Walkerburn and Hawick.
"Some of the collected items will be tested and sold by Home Basics, those that fail will be recycled."
Staff at the Walkerburn based group are still looking for donations of large electrical appliances such as electric cookers, washing machines and fridge/freezers.
Kate added: "We always have customers waiting to buy these items as demand outstrips supply. Once collected, electrical items are thoroughly tested and cleaned by staff and volunteers ready to help someone turn their house into a home."
