Two teenage inmates have died at a young offenders institution (YOI) within the last fortnight.
Liam Kerr, 19, and Robert Wagstaff, 18, both died in custody at Polmont YOI, in the Falkirk region, earlier this month.
There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Kerr was convicted at Paisley Sheriff Court on November 14 while Wagstaff was convicted at the same court on February 29 last year.
Further details of their convictions have not been released by the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We can confirm that we are investigating two deaths at the Polmont young offenders institution on Friday 13th and Saturday 21st January.
"There appear to be no suspicious circumstances."
A statement on the SPS website said of both cases: "Police Scotland have been advised and the matter will be reported to the procurator fiscal.
"Next of kin have been informed and a fatal accident inquiry may be held in due course."
The SPS describes Polmont as Scotland's national holding facility for male young offenders aged 16 to 21.
