SCOTRAIL has announced that there will be changes to Borders Railway services from February due to coronavirus.

A company spokesperson says the decision was taken “as we continue to revise the critical service being provided during the coronavirus pandemic”.

According to ScotRail, there will be no change to the number of services running during the day between Tweedbank and Edinburgh.

However, the last train between the stations will be moved to an earlier time.

The last Sunday service travelling that route leaves at 11.11pm.

Regarding the changes to services across Scotland, a ScotRail spokesperson said: “With a focus on continuing to provide a safe and reliable service, particularly for key workers and in support of the vaccination rollout, the number of services is being reduced to 65% of pre-pandemic levels, while delivering 72% of seats.

“Customers are reminded that they should only be travelling if they meet the criteria set out by the Scottish Government guidelines.

"Customers should also check their journey before they travel on February 1, as online systems will still be in the process of being updated.

“If you need to make an essential journey, please use Journey Planner or the ScotRail app to ensure that you have the most up to date service information.”
