THREE Borders towns will get drop-in clinics for coronavirus vaccinations this week, the region’s health board has announced.

NHS Borders has been running drop-in clinics over the past few Saturdays at the Borders Event Centre in Kelso.

However, three Borders towns will be offering a clinic for the first time this week.

The first of the clinics – which will be administering Pfizer and AstraZeneca jabs – will run in Peebles at Gytes Leisure Centre today (Monday, July 5).

Drop-in clinics will also be available at this location on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week.

Meanwhile, a clinic will run at Hawick Town Hall on Tuesday (July 6). This is the only date it will be available in the town this week.

Galashiels is the last of the three towns that will be hosting a drop-in clinic, with people able to get jabs at the Volunteer Hall on Saturday (July 10) and Sunday.

The drop-in clinics are for anyone who is aged 18 and over, lives in the Borders and falls into one of these two categories:

  • Has not had their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Had their first vaccination dose before May 16

The clinics will run between 9.30am-1pm and 1.45pm-5.30pm.

A spokesperson for NHS Borders said: “You do not need an appointment to get vaccinated and you can attend even if you already have an appointment for your first or second dose.

“Vaccinations will be administered subject to availability and patients with scheduled appointments will be prioritised. Those without appointments will be seen as quickly as possible, however please be patient if you have to wait.

“If you need transport, call Scottish Borders Council on 0300 100 1800 as soon as possible.”
