A BIG splash is on the agenda at a Borders country house after a planning bid for an outdoor swimming pool was submitted to Scottish Borders Council.
Eildon Hall is a category B listed dwelling located on the south of the Eildon Hills at Melrose.
Originally built in the early 19th century as a hunting lodge, it was vastly expanded to its current form by William Burn in the latter half of the century.

The hall continues to be used as a family home and the current owner, Elizabeth Dalkeith, has now submitted a bid to install an outdoor swimming pool within the grounds.
The location selected for the pool is on the lawn to the west of the hall.
A statement submitted with the application says: “This allows for an adequate size of pool and is well screened by mature hedging, minimising any visual impact.
“The materials chosen, principally the sandstone paving to the perimeter of the pool, are to match the existing paving around the house.”
