BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Borders man who admitted assaulting a man to his severe injury with a screwdriver.
Forty-two-year-old Steven Shields, of Denholm, also pleaded guilty to threatening or abusive behaviour towards the man by repeatedly contacting him on social media, sending him threatening messages and engaging in a fight with him in Douglas Drive and The Loaning between June 19 and June 24
A not guilty plea to possession of two machetes was accepted by the Crown.
Sentence was deferred on Shields, of Douglas Drive, until May 9 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court for the production of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
