A 47-YEAR-OLD man has made a private court appearance charged with two counts of threatening or abusive behaviour following an incident which led to the closure of the A7 road in the Borders.
Police officers were called to the vicinity of the Mosspaul Inn – currently closed for renovations – between Hawick and Langholm, late on Tuesday night after a report of a disturbance.
They subsequently found "suspect materials" within a property which resulted in an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team being called out.
As a precaution a cordon was put in place and the A7 was closed for several hours with diversions put in place to allow an investigation to be undertaken.

He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
Barker was released on bail by sheriff Mark Lindsay.
Police Scotland said enquiries were ongoing.
